I.e. if my car, unmodded is rated at 240bhp, I would have 180whp. Going the other direction, I need to add 33% of 180 to get back to 240.

So, you see Todd, you are actually over 100, so just keep your decal and don't sweat the small stuff.

Actually my math isn't off at all. I am assuming the 20% drivetrain loss that is pretty much the agreed upon loss for the 4T65 trannies. So my math is completely accurate. Assuming 25% tranny loss is just obsurd.

But yes, if you used that amount of power loss it would be over 100hp gained, but that isn't the power loss, so it wouldn't make much sense, would it.

All you do is take the wheel horsepower and divide it by .8 for 20% loss. For 25% loss it would be .75 and so on.

Shawn
Well, I guess we went to different schools. I have always used 25% loss for FWD cars and 10% for RWD.

Nice sticker, you just need some tint on there and that will stand out big time. Looking quite nice there Todd.

25% loss for FWD cars and 10% for RWD.
Not trying to go off topic here, but I've always thought that powertrain in FWD car was more efficient than RWD in regard to hp & torque delivery to drive wheels. Just curious, not questioning anyones tech. knowledge here.

Yeah, it'* more like 20-25% automatic or 10-15% manual.

And yes, a FWD with auto is more efficient than RWD auto. Less mass, like drive shaft, axles, bigger diff...

19 to 22 is what we usually use. Personally i use 20 because its easy to remember and you just divide by .8.

Actually modern automatics are pretty much on par with manuals.

This week sometime, I'm betting on 20whp from the headers, about another 20whp from the smaller pulley, and since i fixed my KR with afc 1.1 maybe another 5 to 10 from it so i'm hoping for around 300whp but we will see. 300whp = ~375bhp. As long as im faster than a GTO ill be happy
Wow, a little optimistic are we? Not that I'm trying to insult you or anything, because I'm not, you have a very nice car and all, but those numbers definately are a bit optimistic. 20whp from the headers is probably about accurate, and maybe 5whp from the KR problem being fixed, but the pulley isn't going to give you 20whp. Going to a 3.4 pulley from the stock 3.8 pulley gives about 20whp, so going from a 3.4" to a 3.2" pulley is going down HALF the amount you did before, bringing the horsepower gain to ~10whp, then you have to think about the inefficiencies of the blower spinning at those higher speeds, so I'm thinking 8whp, maybe 10whp MAX for the pulley. Which gives you 35whp over what you had before. 246.3+35 = 281.3whp, which I'm still not too sure about. I have to wait until dyno day, but like I have said in the past, I'm not even sure our GTP is making 300whp, and I know its making more than 18.7whp more than your SSEi.

I can't wait to see those dyno results though. That SSEi is MEAN!

I guess we will see. 283 is still better than the GTO so like I said, i'll be happy.

Is it enough to beat a GTO in the 1/4? What do those things run stock anyways?
