Parking Lot Bump 'n Run - Hated it!
When my wife got home last night, she parked outside the garage, which is unusual for her. Ever since I cleaned out the garage so that she could park the Bonne in there, she uses it every day.
So, she came in side and asked me to come outside and look at what happened to the car. Knowing this just couldn't be good, I walked outside and this is what I found:
Someone backed into the car while she was parked and inside a restaraunt having lunch. Of course, they didn't bother to leave a note or anything, so now I'm looking at no small expense to fix this mess. Hood and brand new grill pushed in about 1" to 1-1/4".
Also, the bumper cover has a 1" x 1/4" dig out of it, and the driver'* side headlamp has a chip about 1" x 5/8" out of it including a pinhole completely through. This is hard to see, but this pic gets it a bit:
Am I a happy camper? No, I think not! Am I enraged? Well, I'd like to be, but it would only serve to ruin my weekend and blood pressure, so I'm mostly just pissed at someone'* poor driving and poorer consideration for others.
Fortunately, I'm old enough to have inexpensive insurance rates, so I still had collision on the Bonne. Liz will call it in today and we'll go from there. I guess what irks me most is that this car has never been in a moving accident <knock on wood> before, having only once before been bumped in the rear, causing damaged rear tailamps.
As minor as this appears, a complete repair will include, at minimum; repair and repaint of the hood, replacement of the DS headlamp assembly, and repair and repaint the bumper cover. At this point, I'm not sure if it cracked the new grille I just installed about 6 months ago or so. Body repair professionals here know that this is not cheap.
Ah well...it'* really not THAT bad, I guess.... :?

I would be pretty upset at that one, why do people have to be so ignorant that they will not even leave at least a "sorry" note.
I am sure it will be good as new soon though

That sucks. Was it in a parking lot with cameras?
plug the hole in the HL. Doesn't matter if you plug it with tape or glue, just get it covered. You risk destroying the bulbs if water/other gets in there.

Yeah Jim, I'm somewhat surprised that he hasn't posted already. :?
And CC, thanks for the tip. I hadn't given that any thought, but you are right. Especially with those Silver Stars.
No cameras. It was a local Chinese buffet in Sanford, FL. The most modern thing they have is horseless carriages...

I'll definitely do that tonight.
But mine won't be waiting for a couple years. It will be repaired as soon as I get insurance moving along.
Not to worry long term, as White Horse will be repaired and made better than before. Call it an opportunity...
