60/40 split bench > full buckets IMO, especially since you have a GF. My girl loves to move the center console and have me wrap my arm around her on long drives.

I wish my LeSabre had buckets. I have always had a bad back, and the cars I have (or had) with buckets always were easier on my back.
The LeSabre, which does have a suspension capable of taking corners at some pretty bat crap insane speeds, I slide all over the place. No support at all. Just kinda sit down and hang onto the wheel.

Just in the last week, I've drove the truck to work everyday. 70+ miles a day. Eventually I'll end up switching cars through the week to save on gas. Gotta get summer tires on the Buick. But, just in the time I've been driving the truck, my back feels so much better. The bench in the LeSabre for that kinda miles, versus the buckets in the truck make all the difference.
In the LeSabre, I have everything suction cup mounted to the windshield, dash, or velcro mounted on something. GPS, cell, satellite radio, my hunting/tracking/topo GPS I have for geocaching (Garmin Oregon 450T). Too many gadgets and nowhere to put it all.
With the truck, I am getting a second set of mounts for all my stuff (rather than swap it all out every time I change cars). Having the center console makes a great place to put all the gadgets, tools, etc.
I never carry more than 3 passengers, so I've never had any use for the "seat" in the middle of the front row on any car I've had with a bench. (My 87 Regal, my 73 Electra, my 04 LeSabre).
If you look at the vehicles I have had with buckets, the option to make better use of the center storage is worth it alone, not to mention the buckets are easier on my back. The cars that have a bench, stuff tends to roll around on the floor in the back, get tossed in the trunk, end up under the seats, etc.

I've already off roaded the truck a bit going geocaching in the area, going after some I could never do with the Buick, and let me tell ya, those buckets are really nice and easy on the back when blazing down gravel/dirt/seasonal roads in 4 HI, and climbing some hills on these truck trails here. Saves a lot of punishment on my spine. (Which reminds me, I really need to lift it a bit in the front!)

As much as people at work have wanted to see the truck, look it over and all, the biggest thing people notice and comment on is the buckets.

So..why not swap in a set of buckets from an '04 LeSabre? I've heard of 97-03 GP guys who swap in '04+up Regal seats for better support, so it might be worth a shot.
