Hmm, I wondered if I should post this in "your ride". I guess that answers that question. Thanks mod.
Well, my concern about the series II is just the upper intake and the gaskets that like to fail. I hope that the lower intake gaskets were changed when the upper was. They guy is supposed to be mailing me all the repair info that he has, and hopefully that will tell all. I guess that they issued some updated gaskets for the lower, so I think I'll put those on when the time comes. I'd also like to put the series III aluminum upper intake on it as soon as mkaake and I can get a working TB adaptor made.
Um... why do I have to worry about the torque converter? I hadn't heard that one yet. What goes wrong, and what are the symptoms?
Yeah, the fuel door is quite ugly. Anyone ever replaced one? It looks to be rivited on, unless you disconnect it at the hinge and bend the new one into place.
It is the Limited. No leather, but it does have the dual zone automatic climate control, auto dimming mirror, auto level suspension, dual power seats, etc. I didn't really want leather anyway, hot in the summer, cold in the winter.

Oh, thanks! You know, that makes perfect sense now that you say so. Glad I didn't start drilling yet!
I'm getting off-topic, but it'* my topic to start with darn it.
Are the Bonneville or 88/98 fuel doors the same, or must I limit my search to a LeSabre? I know that they look the same, if I remember right.

Oooh, right. I was thinking junkyard, but that might be a better option, considering that I'd probably have to get it painted anyway. Ya just don't see Black LeSabres around here, so the chances of finding one in a yard is almost nil.

I checked on paint and will likely just spray it myself with a can of Dupli Color since a shop charges so much. Plus they said it wouldn't be an exact match because the paint on the car has faded over the years. I figure why not spend less since what I paint it with won't be a perfect match either?!?!

That LeSabre should serve you well! They're an extremely reliable car. they're not exactly flashy, but they get the job done. I used to have an 88 LeSabre and it was the most reliable car my family had ever owned. You're right about the series II engine too. When I drove our 95 SSE Bonneville it felt like an extremely fast car because I was used to the series I.

Yeah, I actually did floor it tonight for the first time, and she moves nicely. I was briefly reminded of the '97 GTP I owned back when I was a single man. It'* not quite the same, but it still felt really good.
I scheduled a wheel alignment for thursday. It drives fine, but the steering wheel is a couple degrees off center when going straight, and it pulls ever so slightly to one side.
Saturday I might go junkyarding to see if there are any fuel doors that'll work for cheaper than GMpartsdirect.com (I know, it'* a measly $30, but I'm as cheap as they get. And I love junkyarding). I also want to check out what other rear view mirrors they might have. It'* got the auto dimming mirror, but no compass or homelink features.
