Got a car! willwren, enjoy, it isn't a Fiero!
Saturday my dad and I drove to Ohio to pick up my new car. We were browsing auto trader for fieros, and didn't find much, so we decided to browse through Grand Prixs to see if there was anything good. We came accross a 1990 Grand Prix STE Turbo for 2,200 with 136k on it, but it was white, and we don't like white cars much. So we printed out that page and kept browsing. Then we came to a 1990 Grand Prix STE Turbo for $2,100 with only 98k on it, and it was red instead of white. We called the guy and he told us what was wrong with the car, and what he had done to it, and he was very honest and told us everything we wanted to know. So we drove down Saturday morning to take a look at it. It seemed to be just as he described it, so my dad offered him $1800 and he accepted so we bought the car and brought it home. It seems to be a VERY nice car.
It is loaded with every option except HUD, CD Player, and Leather, unfortunately it has a factory power moonroof too, but I can live with that as long as it doesn't fly off. It has a 10 speaker stereo, 12 way power drivers and passenger seats, power windows, power mirrors, power locks, power steering, 4 wheel disc brakes, anti-lock brakes, steering wheel radio controls, tilt wheel, cruise control, and a lot of other things. It has a LOT of options. But the option I particularly like the best is the engine. It has a Turbocharged & Intercooled 3.1L V6, just like the TGP does. Stock it makes 205hp, 220lb.ft., has 3.33:1 final drive, and it doesn't seem to move too bad. The turbo definately spools quicker than on the other car, but since this one doesn't have a chip the other one is much faster once the turbo does spool because it has 4psi more boost. On the freeway is where it really shows. That is why I will hopefully be getting a chip very soon.
Now this is what it needs:
Front Rotors & Pads
New Mufflers
Right Front Fender needs to be painted, it is fine how it is but would look much better than it does now. It is painted and all, it just started to rust.
Doorhandle for drivers door
That is about all I can find that it needs. It has a few little things wrong with it, like the boost gauge doesn't always work, it cuts out every once in a while, and the speedometer and tachometer read ~20% high. But it is fun to see the tach go past the end and shift about where it would read 7500rpms or so. Since the DIC will display average speed, all you have to do is reset it and it will tell you how fast you are going, so the speedometer being off isn't a problem.
All in all it is a nice car, definately a very nice first car.
Just thought I would let you guys know.

No Fiero! Woohoo! Way to go. You have some projects to get done now to keep you out of trouble. Start with welding the sunroof.
Once it'* running well, get some stock times before the mods

It runs really well already. The guy just had a tuneup done like 500 miles ago, and it seems to run very well. I was planning on going to the first Michigan Grudge Match with the Michigan Grand Prix Club and running the car stock to see what it would do, and then mod it and take it to the track modded and see what it does, but now that I have been driving it around I am wishing it had a chip, I'm just too used to the modded one. I am hoping for high 15'* stock and low 14'* modded (chip, CAI, 160 t-stat, removed cat, 1.6 rockers), but I may end up modding it before I get a chance to run it stock, because I just can't resist.
That doesn't sound like a bad idea.....

It is a PITA for me to take pictures because we don't have a digital camera other than a $10 one my grandpa got that is only a half a megapixel. So I have to get out the 35mm camera, take pictures, and then develop them. If I had a digital camera readily available I could take pictures really easily for you.

Nice ride. My friend has a totalled out 1989-1/2 Turbo. He had a few mods done to it. I'll see if he has any 3.1 turbo specific mods he wants to sell.
Here it is (dbtk2'* new ride):

Yup, that would be the one. I thought about going on auto trader and posting that pic, but it is a horrible pic of the car and doesn't do it justice. It gives you an idea of what it looks like though.
That would be awesome if he has mods he would like to sell...I am very interested!
