My wife'* previous car was a black 88 Grand Prix SE Coupe, 2.8 V6 (console shift, not column), with those exact same wheels. We bought it around 1995 with 144,000 miles on it. I put a new engine and transaxle in it a couple years later. We had to re-do most of the interior (headliner, etc) but it was a nice, fast, sporty ride. I sold it to a friend who still drives it, we got a 4 door 2001 Grand Prix GT when we started planning for kids. 1 kid later, all is well. I wish I had pics of the 88. That was a nice car.
Good work keeping yours looking nice and running!

That 90 GP should have a 3T40( THM-125 ) or a 4T60( THM440-T4 )... Does it have (OD)?

But that Grand Prix you have uses the 4T60 with the GX3 or 3.33 gear ratio... I remember doing a few burnouts in one...lol...
Its strange I have seen these w bodies with the 3T40 and the 4T60, I think the 4 speed OD trans was an option..

Your right the Quad Four motor was standard with the 3spd auto, and 3.1 w/ the 4T60 or the 5spd stick. It has a 3.33:1 axle? Whoaaa I never knew that!

But I'll bet if you floored it from a standstill you could get to spin...
