Kind of hard to say for sure by looking at the pictures. But I will guess the fire started lower down in the back. It then melted and burned threw the fuel line, which is under pressure and that sprayed gas across the throttle body catching the front on fire.

I have no idea what caused it. She ran fine for a few short trips, i came out and saw some smoke assumed for a minute it was overheating at first. But no, it was on fire. Here'* a link to my photobucket http://s775.photobucket.com/albums/yy38/hermit555/
I'm not sure what the future will hold for the bonneville. I'd love to fix her up but i don't know if it'* worth it. I wish i could do the work myself.

Looks like the mysterious 3800 fire GM refuses to include all models in,.... again. Sorry for the loss. Hate to see another Bonne go to scrap heaven.
