02 Saturn Vue 3.0L limp mode
Hey guys, I went to the Saturn forum, I can't post anything anymore..not sure why. Sine Saturn is GM thought I would try it here
So here is goes my parents have a '02 Saturn Vue 6 cylinder 3.0L
they are getting P1779, P1780, P0700 error codes - and 2 of them were about the gas pedal, my dad didn't wright down all the codes. I checked the ECM and TCM connections they were fine no corrosion, pins looked good, doesn't looked like the connections were every removed before.
Before they just start dumping money into it buying this and that... do you have any idea on what it could be? I was thinking it'* the TCM since the codes are all about the transmission. The TCM and ECM are about $200 each and don't want to waste money they are on a tight budget.
thanks in advance for you help

well throwing parts at the car seldom repairs it. 2 codes were for the gas pedal what is the third code ? could be a bad TPS, throtle position sensor , do you have a throttle cable or is it "fly by wire"? you may want to start by getting a can of electronic contact cleaner and one at a time diconnect all the connections under the hood and give them a good squirt and put back together after dry. Could be your throttle body may need cleaning,,,,make sure the throttle plate moves freely, if you do clean, do NOT use carb cleaner, use throttle body cleaner that is sensor safe. Probably could use the throttle body cleaner on the electrical connections also, then again this all could be something major,

it has the fly by wire, I cleaned the throttle body a few months ago, it moves freely, and did a sea foam cleaning as well.
I'll clean the electronic connections and see if that helps

can you list the codes and what they say the codes are? is the ECM the same as a PCM and TCM the same as a BCM ? If so and you do need a new BCM or both The BCM will have to be linked to the PCM with a Tech2 or MDI. When you removed the connector off of the PCM did you disconnect the neg battery cable ?

P1779 Engine Torque Delivered To TCM Signal
P1780 Park/Neutral Postion (PNP) Switch Circuit Engine Torque Signal Circuit
P0700-transmission control system malfunction
the ECM is the Engine Control Module - guessing the PCM is Primary Control Module
the TCM is the Transmission Control Module - not sure what a BCM is
Yeah i disconnected the neg battery when I checked the connections on them both

I googled the first one ,P1779 Engine Torque Delivered To TCM Signal seems it could be a good chance it could be the TCM especially with all the other codes. Probably someone with a scan tool could pinpoint it more. It might be worth paying someone to diagnose and estimate. You have to consider how the rest of the car is body wise, engine , trans, interior, tires...etc....how much it will cost to get another car to figure if you want to repair the car.

I cleaned the connections on the ECM, TCM, and throttle body. I also applied dielectric to all the connections. the neg and pos cables were in good shape, there was a little corrosion on the neg cable going to the battery terminal, cleaned that up...cleared the codes and took it for a couple of drives today no errors came up.. i hope that fixed the problem... if more codes come up again I'll let you know. thanks for you help.
