Rocker arms?
While putting on the rocker arms I noticed it never seemed to screw in tightly then finding out that the entry is all rubbed out. Is there anything I can do about this or will I need to purchase some new ones?

Yes rocker arm screws on top of the cylinder head the screw to the rocker arm is fine it just won't screw in because it'* all rubbed inside? Would it be best to throw some used heads from the junk yard? It'* a 3.4 impala year 2000 btw

It can be saved if done right. I would try a heli-coil repair or gm has a thread repair kit that comes with timeserts (Dealer item only) . I would try this first before replacing the head, but to each his own though.

I see this happen a lot, when the rocker bolts are just zipped out with an impact or air ratchet......you have to manually break them free first...otherwise, you take the threads out with the bolts...
FYI.....if this happened while doing a lower intake gasket or head gasket, there is a tool you use to rotate the rocker and remove the push rods, without having to remove the rocker bolts(saves a lot of time and grief)....

You should put those push rods back in the original positions......if mixed up, the exhaust push rods are longer than the intakes.......you can easily look into the head to see if the rod is going to an intake valve....

correction to thread posted
I appologize tech ll I meant to say that if you mixed two exhaust valves it would not be the end of the motor (it is frowned upon when building a motor to take a exhaust pushrod out of its spot and accidently move to another) I am not saying that exhaust pushrod is the same as an intake because it is NOT. that is my fault for not catogorizing I was trying to simply say that if you look at the pic it will show the "position" of each rocker. with that said taking a piece of styrafoam you can mark each pushrod and shove them into it. and mark each position corrosponding with simple masking tape and a dark colored marker (to keep track of its original hole). but like tech ll said do not mix intake and exhaust but if you accidently mix two exhaust push rods Not going to be the end of your motor sorry for explaining

I have had to take pushrods from junkyard and use because of money costs for customers on these motors as long as they are with in spec (not bent) and exhaust pushrods go where exhaust pushrods are supposed to go and intake go where intake are supposed to go it is all ok
