lower door molding trim piece coming off
Hey guys, a few days ago I noticed the lower door molding trim piece on my driver'* door started to fall off on my 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix, 3.8...It'* pulling away on the side of the door where the door handle is. I was able to pull the trim piece back a little, and I noticed a sort of long plastic looking pin and there is a hole in the door where that pin goes into. When I push the trim piece back into its place, but when I let go of it, then it just pops back out. The other side of the trim piece on the opposite side is still fastened. I notice a some kind of bar plate, (sort of looks like a plate you nail in the spot under a bedroom door over the carpet..). I notice some kind of adhesive beed across on the door where the trim piece would line up onto the door at..
Seance its like 20 degrees out, and each time I open my drivers side door and close it I feel that the trim piece will fall off at some point.
I seen a video on YouTube, and the only video I found was a guy had the same problem as I have, but behind where the plate goes on the door, his was rusted thru. So his video showed how he made his own new piece of metal and how he bent and formed it and then attached it to his door and then glued the trim piece to that. But with it being 20 degrees outside I don't think adhesive would hold it being this cold outside..
Would there be anyone that could help me with a quick fix, until spring time.Or do I need to just buy a new piece that goes in the hole in the door that will hold that plastic looking stick that sticks out from the back of the trim piece..
