Electrical Phantom Issue

Electrical Phantom Issue
First post so hello and thanks in advance any help: the facts: '09 G6 base. While parked unlocked in the garage for a couple hours, the horn chirps and the doors lock. No one physically around the car and the fob with a full battery is sitting on the counter (no butt dials). Voltage in the battery (car) is excellent off and running. No other electrical issues ever displayed. For the sake of full disclosure, the fob hasn't worked in over a year but the car has never displayed issues until now. I'm not sure where to start. Thanks for any suggestions

Thanks for the reply 007. I thought of that as well. No new installation around that I could see. I might look into just disabling the system (if thats possible).

Hi Mike,
To you and carfixer, thanks for your service. This thing is so random, I would think not. I can go stretches without an issue then.... I reset the system yesterday (disconnected the neg for 10 mins.) and reconnected. Didn't go off the rest of the day or last night. I'm thinkin carfixer might have something with the "outside" transmitter thought. I'll continue researching the total auto theft disconnect, if thats possible.

I actually had to look this up, but GM key FOB'* and garage door openers do operate on the same frequency...315MHZ. GM fobs send a coded signal to open/lock doors.
You should be able to reprogram your current key fob so it uses a different code. There are procedures you can follow to program your current key fob. This should reset a new code and not allow your neighbors fob to control your car.
