Cleaned the EGR valve and now it'* flooding and won't idle
Hello everyone, I have a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville ssei. It has been running great except for a little bit of surging at idle.I removed the EGR valve and cleaned it with a little bit of carb.cleaner and checked the wiring and lines to the egr valve. Put it back on and now it'* flooding and won't idle.. It was running good and not sure if the valve is now sticking open.I am gonna take the egr valve back off and check it, But I am checking to see if anyone else has had this problem.Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

This isn't a normal problem.
Did you use a new gasket when you put the EGR valve back on?
Is it actually flooding?

EGR VALVE
Yes Sir, It'* running way to rich. I can keep it running if I hold the throttle around 1200 rpm.Yes I replaced the gasket when I put valve back on. When I first started it up after putting the valve back on it ran great and idle was steady ( No Surging) For 5-6 minutes then just died.I started it back up but I had to hold the throttle down for it to start up.I had to kill it because it filled my shop up with unburnt fuel fumes ( Kinda like my Plymouth Duster Race car when run it in the shop)..The fuel pump went out on my old Bonnie 3 years ago and I just let it sit and drove my Jeep.I wanted to drive it again so I put it in my shop and dropped the tank, Cleaned the tank good, Replaced the fuel pump and strainer with a GM pump, Cleaned the fuel lines, Replaced the fuel filter and done a complete maintenance on her.Also new plug wires and spark plugs. I did all of this about 2 month'* ago and it'* been running and driving great.The only reason I cleaned the egr valve is my service engine soon idiot light came on 2 days ago.I took it to 3 different auto parts store'* to get a scan done on it but none of them would do it.They told me it'* to old and they didn't have the correct scanner.So , I just thought as long as it sat the EGR valve might be sticking and causing it to surge just a little bit at idle.Guess I should have just left it alone now. . I am gonna work on her today and see if I can figure out what is going on. I'm gonna check the fuel pressure and go from there.
Thank you very much,. Randy

EGR valve :: Fixed:::
Yes Sir It will not,I removed the EGR valve again and cleaned it good this time.The valve that has a brass looking seat was stuck but it'* all good now.The problem with the flooding was the flat block beside the Supercharger that has 3 wire'* on the pigtail had a loose connection.I cleaned the connectors and pins and tightened them up. Problem Solved, She'* running great and no more surging at idle.
Thank y'all, Have a great day.👍👍

Great news! I'm glad to hear you got it sorted out!
One small suggestion: Depending on how much time it spent running while flooded, you might want to check and see if a lot of gasoline got in the oil.
