2002 pontiac purge solonoid & canister & unknown clip
Where is my purge solonoid and my Evap canister located aon my 2002 grand Prix Gt 3800? I also have a two prong square male clip simply hanging not far from the 4 prong oxygen semsor clip - near the passenger fire wall - above # 4 cylinder - any ideas what this was for?

They move that thing all over the place. Look on your throttle body, there should be a large vacuum hose near it'* base. Follow that vacuum line and it should go to the purge solenoid. I believe the canister is under the car, but I would have to check the service manual to be sure. Any chance of a picture of the plug?

Thanks Dan,
I did find the solonoid - but not the Evap canister - yet. Under the car ? Front or back ? Is it near the front bottom of the air cleaner box? No photo off the blue square clip tonight - but it looks just like the clip for the O2 sensor and in the same area too - right near the engine hoist hook - near the # 2 and #4 cylinder passenger fire wall - but only two prongs on it ..instead of 4.

I have two codes Im working on eliminating.I thought I had them fixed but now my Servcie Engine light is on again after driving 80 miles. PO420 and P0440 I replaced the up stream O2 sensor but not the rear one - yet ..and I'm going too.
I also checked for vacum leaks and I can find none.
PO440:
I replaced my after market locking gas cap with the original one and tightened it good.I guess I might need to replace the Evap solonoid too.I need to get to the evap and check it for leaks and vacum too.
My question here is - is there any sensor in my gas tank that might be likely to be throwing the evap PO44O code too ?

I believe the EVAP canister is near the fuel filter under the car, should be in front of it if you don't have a canister under the hood. Follow the line that goes to the EVAP purge valve. If it runs down along the firewall, then the canister is under the car.

Fuel filter should be by the back driverside tire on a 02 GP. The evap can I believe is in the wheel well behind the liner, same wheel.
TMK the w bodies from 97-03 are this way.

mine is on top of the fuel tank. and check out the vent valve, inside drivers rear fender it sticks sometimes and you can squirt it with some wd40 and actuate it with the battery and make sure its working free.
