I have some interior replacment parts on order, and I need to be able to remove the headliner and the rear speaker deck to install them. I'm not sure how the interior trim is attached, and I don't want to just try and pry it off until I know what is holding it together. Do I need any special tools to remove the trim pieces? Should I expect to break a few retaining tabs during the removal process and make sure to stock up on replacements?

All the trim is held in by is the little plastic snap clips that will more than likely break and yes you can replace them
