Default 2000 pontiac bonneville power steering

Ok, I have a 2000 pontiac bonneville se.. I replaced the rack and pinion about a week ago because one of the mouting brackets broke off. Other the bracket, I wasnt having any problems out of the rack or the power steering pump. Afer I installed the rack in attempted to purge the system by turning steering wheel from lock to lock (with car off) a whole Friggin lot of times, and topped fluid off after. Started the car and was getting whining noise that seemed to be coming from my pump. So, I replaced the pump as well. I repeated the same process after installing the new pump, and tries to purge the system by turning steering wheel from lock to lock it would say 40 -50 times, maybe more.. Still getting whining noise ... so after watching a few YouTube videos couple people said after you tried to purge the system with the car off you need to try to start the car and turn the steering wheel from Lock to lock so I tried that as well and haven't had any luck as far as getting my power steering to quiet down there is still a pretty loud whining noise.. Should I try to totally change all of my power steering fluid.? Im thinking if I disconnect both lines from rack and pinion, I could pump all fluid out by way of hand pump attched to reservoir.. I am kind of at a loss tho.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated..

It will never purge air out of the system with the engine off. It does take a lot of cycles to purge all of the air out of the system. I'm betting you didn't need to replace the power steering pump, however, if it has a lot of miles on it then probably a good idea anyways.

1. Put the front on stands, such that the front tires are off the ground. No need to have it any higher than that.
2. Verify power steering fluid is a little above full.
3. Start the engine.
4. Steer full left to full right 50 times or until the noise goes away. If the noise goes away skip to step 9.
5. Stop engine.
6. Wait 2 minutes.
7. Check power steering fluid level, add as needed.
8. Return to step 3.
9. Check power steering fluid level, add as needed.
10 Complete.

I can't imagine you'd get to step 8 more than a couple of times.
