Sorry, forgot the engine pics. Added some back set and trunk shots as well.
Engine with engine cover on.

Engine with cover pulled off. Still a little dusty under the engine cover.

Back seat area.

Good sized deep trunk.

I think he was talking about the sound of the 8 cylinders pumping through the dual exhaust!

Yeah, a lot better than the straight 6 in the Beemer.

Sorry it'* been a while since I posted. I was waiting for my hot side pipes to get welded but my friend that does all my "good" welding was sick. But he'* back in form again and off we go.
I mounted the shorty headers with the exit towards the front of the engine. This keeps the header heat away from the starter on the drivers side and the oil fittings to the block and lines on the passenger side. The piping then 180'* back and up, just behind the center ports, to a V-clamp, and then forward and up to the turbos. Where the pipe leaves the header collector and 180'* back and up, I installed the wastegate feed in flow off of the bottom of the 180 and back. You can see that in the first pic. So the wastegates will set pretty much right where a conventional header collector would set.

Just realized I mocked up the piping wrong. The second pipe that goes to the turbo should be setting on top of the v clamp above the wastegate, not where it is setting in the pic.

This is a shot high over the engine bay. You can see the turbo placement and the 3 inch to 4 inch cones off of the exits of the turbos. The cones still have to be cut down to 4 inch diameters yet to match up with the polished stainless 4 inch exhaust piping.

So now I start on the exhaust pipes. I'm thinking of running it down under the frame and all the way to an exit in front of the rear tires. Or just cut the fender bottoms and mount them solid/permanent with the exhaust coming out of the fender and right out to atmosphere. The turbos will act as mufflers. Out of the fenders would be much simpler.

My band saw took a dump and I was with out anything to cut metal (correctly/easily) but I found a deal on a Rockwell band saw and a full standing drill press. So I am now officially back in business.

OK. Did a little exhaust work today. 4 inch polished stainless off the turbos back to the firewall and down. I left the exit long yet so I can determine what to do next. I will probably add a pair of V-clamps so I can run a 90 down under and mount a full 4 inch stainless all the way back to the rear tire. But remove that fir a 90 degree turnout right at the bottom of the firewall.
This is the passenger side turbo looking from the front.

This is looking up into the fender well of the passenger turbo exhaust.

This is the drivers side.

This is an overhead shot of the engine compartment.

Looks like the new band saw is working well for the new 4" stainless!
How do you like the new band saw? Got a photo of it?
Exhaust can get tricky from there to Cut & weld.
Keep Up The good Work!

I'm afraid the stainless is too hard on the blades. I bought a new 10-14 and a 14-18 blades and I think I killed the 10-14 trying to cut the stainless 4 inch. I did get the first two 90'* cut but the for rest I used my chop saw. This is a pic of the Rockwell band saw and the drill press.

I tack the joints but I take it to an expert welder to finish the welds. He says the stainless welds better than either steel or aluminum.

Mark I am glad that your welder friend is doing well again. Sure looks like you both are going to have your work cut out for you ahead...Keep trucking, really enjoying your creativeness!
Ya I was wondering if the band saw would "cut" it or not. Chop saw alternative, u use whatcha got!
Btw Anyone who works their band saw literally to its death, deserves the great deal on both the press & saw you got! Thanks for the photo !
