Calm down Willwren....you don't how everything is going to work before it'* tried....it'* ok, it'* perfectly normal. :P

Dirthead, flowbench them. Sitting under your hood isn't 'just as good'. Flowbench them both with the same angle of bend as installed.
matweb.com is a joke. There are far better industrial sources.
This issue I have is with your claims. You say it'* the same. Based on what knowledge? Show us the proof, and we might listen. You think you're the first person to try to find a suitable substitute that works as good or better for less money?
That tubing you said 'looked the same' is closer to vinyl dryer duct in construction than that FWI tubing we use. You say it will flow just as good, but I know for a fact it won't. Fluid dynamics dictate that it won't, based on the way it scrunches up when compressed on the inside radius of the bend.
So how can it work just as well?

Awesome conversation you guys are having. This is really helpful. Sorry about the arisen disputes, but at the same time I'm glad because I'm learning. Dirthead and willwren, you guys are awesome. Can I use your material acquisition sources? I'm just using $20 plastic tubing, and if something can work better to reduce the IAT, I'm all in.
Thanks to everyone else as well for the great input, too. This is one of the most informative threads I've opened here. Thanks so much!
Based on all the input so far, I'm very tempted to order from Intense their tubing & coupler. However, would I need the coupler? I think a urethane coupler should do the same thing if I leave little play room. Is the coupler that important?
Also, I didn't mean to seem to attack Intense or even compare them to other products to such an extent. They're just the most prominent, it seems, so it was an easy comparison. Sorry, Rogue.
Finally, a bit off topic, can someone PM me as I'm looking for a few sq feet of red crushed velvet? Thanks!

I have to side with Willwren on this one, and everyone knows i love to argue with him
But Hes 100% right here.
That tubing looks nothing like INTENSE'* iv seen intense tubing MANY times in person.
Looks at this pic...

Its not smooth inside, its bunching up. thats not good.

This isn't rocket science. Flexible tubing bunches up when bent.
INTENSE tubing is the least 'bunchy' of any tubing you'll find.
This promotes LAMINAR flow and velocity.

just a light bulb, and slightly off topic, but, has anyone piped pvc tubing to a fwi? that would be much smoother than any flexible tube.
and what about that foil wrapped fiberglass i see on air ducts. would that hold up to engine bay temps? anyone trid it?
