Depends on what kind of muffler you want. They can be under 50 bucks to over a hundred dollars. I got my cat for 45 dollars on ebay and it'* a Catco brand.

Just make sure it'* a high flow cat. Anything is probably better than stock. Autosound is good. I got a Catco mainly because of cost.

I think no one has answered his main question of gains. I believe it is usually in the neighborhood of 10-15 hp from exhaust mods. With a full catback system it goes up to 25 hp or so. BTW, if you put on stickers thats an extra 25 hp alone, as no one will want to race you

Cat back is pointless, only replace components, not tubing. Any of the top mufflers for F body will work, magnaflow, dynomax or my favorite flowmaster. Flowmaster - 72.99 on jegs, magnaflow, over $100, dynomax not sure. All will net 10-15 HP, a cat will give another 5 or so. That'* it! An intake will help as well, as thes HP changes are more multiplers with certain items then just addition figures.
