I have read about too much octane can actually hamper performance and ideal octane will allow you to drop pulley size or advance timing. It seems a lot of it is trial and error, oh lets not forget scan scan scan.
VP has a had my business only because thats whats available, same would go for rocketfuel if that were around.
How would the spark plug heat range vs octane level relate? Could you run a hotter plug with higher octane and more boost? or would you want to colder yet?

I normally run Autolite 104s gapped at 0.054"

WIth the current high voltage ignition systems and EFI, it is difficult to read the plugs in the same fashion as a carburated engine. I would use the 104'* too, or depending on the heat of the track, one step colder.

5 Gallons just went into the SSEi. Just now. This **** is BLUE. No kidding. There'* a blue dye in it.
I was running VERY low anyway, so I drove home in 2nd gear to burn off as much 92 as possible, and with this 5 gallons (doing the math.......) I'm running about 98 octane. Kinda cold here to really characterize things, but we'll see how she goes.

Remember.....OCTANE is the fuel'* ability to prevent knock. Nothing more, nothing less. There are pages and pages of arguing on the net about cheap vs. premium gas. The fact remains. You ONLY need to run an octane rated fuel to keep you from getting knock. If you don't knock with 87, then running 93 will COST you HP. How?! The ignition system cannot burn the excess octane. So, raw fuel goes out your exhaust (so to speak

Blue dye for identification. They know what it is. Convenient since the drum is sitting right next to the 110 Octane leaded stuff.
BTW, they pump into a 5-gallon fuel jug with a LARGE nozzle. Won't fit in a filler neck. Had to pour from that into mine to get it into the car.
Timing advance may be easier on the OBD1 cars since our MAP sensors aren't part of the equation for timing like on OBD2. In other words, if we trick the timing to advance, the MAP sensor won't retard it back. We may not need PCM programming for a happy ****. Part of this weekend'* homework.
I have some studying to do on this, and maybe try a couple things this weekend.
