it has been done before, I remember reading about that on another 3800 forum. I think the only reason why many people don't do it is because it'* so costly. I think a dude got a S3 intake manifold for about 600 bucks. But don't quote on me on any of that. I would wait for the experts to tell you why.

Are you talking UPPER intake here (your title says LIM) - like an aluminum one from a series 3? I'm confused what you're asking exactly.
Edit - For the effort I think you'd be better off getting an sleeved aftermarket UIM (APN), or a Dillon sleeved intake, and installing a Buttermore reduced diameter stovepipe into the LIM. That and a properly running cooling system with a 180* thermostat and I think you'd be good for the life of your car. Obviously metal LIM gaskets too while you're there

I'm kinda confused by what you're asking but I'm going to assume that you was talking about the upper intake because you said "intake" but nothing about gaskets. And the LIM itself is already aluminum so it'* either the upper or the gaskets that you're asking about.
However if you was talking about the LIM gaskets, you want to go for the aluminum gaskets, dealers have them for approximately 50-70 bucks.
But will you clarify for us?
Gaskets or the Upper Intake?
