Yup, I know nightriderr that this is a year late but I just fixed the same problem on my '96 LeSabre. I've taken photos of my fix [which cost me less than $100 plus about eight hours of my labor] and put it all together into a PDF. I don't see any way to attach a file here so, if anyone is interested, send me a note and I'll send the PDF to you.

Nightriderr, Did shops do your oil changes?
Someone should have seen that stuff pulling apart long before it came to the complete disconnect of subframe/bushings.
Salt belt eats though stuff and bushings/bolts etc, can rot if not washed frequently.
A salt concentrated neutralizer spray in winter may be a good idea after coming in from the outside gunk. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...parttype,10721
I know with my cars if it does have to go though salt, I try those touchless washes, or better those manual power wash bays where you can really get it clean underneath!

Wowzers! Lucky that steering shaft didn't separate! Seen lots of rusted out cradles in this part of the salt belt, mostly on Cavalier/Sunfires though, mind you we don't see a lot of Bonnevilles up here unfortunately.
