New Idea...Adding a supercharger to NA 3800
So I keep hearing everyone talk about how expensive and time consuming it is to add a supercharger to a NA 3800. Brackets, pulley'*, rerouting belts, and a heckuva mess. You'd need to be pretty handy to suceed at such a feat.
But....I just sorta got to thinking today. The shape of the Eaton'* that we're using make them ideal for our application (displacement vs. size vs. power required), so this example will stick with one of those. Why not cut some sheet metal and sandwich it between the charger and engine to ensure the air spreads out evenly as it enters. Then, simply connect an electric motor (direct drive) and mount that. Run it at constant RPM'* utilizing the bypass valve (you could even add a switch to lower the RPM'* and save power). Shoot, you could even run it faster than recommended without having to add a new pulley!
Now, the fun part...electrical. How to trick the PCM, for one. I'm sure someone that knows a little about car electrical "stuff" could use existing systems to govern the boost solenoid (a combo of the throttle and...), and find a way to modify the fuel mixture to match the additional air. What about power requirements? Add a 140 amp alternator, even 160 or higher to be safe.
Sure, it'* a ton harder and more complicated that it sounds, I'm sure. But compared to the mechanics required to run the charger with a belt, wouldn't it be much simpler, more versatile?

You'll need to completely upgrade your power system.
For a full SC upgrade you'll need the following things.
Supercharger/BCS, Lower intake manifold, pulley setup, and adjusted Fuel Air tables.

the eatons take like 50hp to run at top speed, you wont be able to find an electic motor that big, even an AC one. I thought of this before.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but don't you have to make the transmission stronger too? because I don't think it can handle the power, or some crap like that? Also, if you can figure this out, the more power to ya dude, but i'd keep your bonne the way she is, if you need THAT much power, try putting a pontiac 400v8 in her and converting her to rwd. that'll keep ya busy for a LOOONG time. lol but most important, to keep you going, dream of how fast she'll be when your done [if you ever do finish]

Well the 4t60 could take that power, but if you mod that Hybrid engine very far, you're going into no man'* land. I'd feel comfortable with a */C ontop of my engine, but that'* me. The rods inside are enough for moderate PSI, so keeping an open exhaust will help a lot. the 2.25" exhaust on most SE'* will give you very high boost.
The later in the years you get (closer to present) the more of a gap there is for the blown vs natural power. Only 15 ft lbs seperated them before, now it'* 50.
Sheet metal wouldn't be good either. An L67 lower intake could be had cheaper then any option strong enough.

though its not quite the fifty i said, its still the same pretty much. Most heavy duty AC motors will be less than 10 hp, and those are the big ones.
