My 5min Air Intake Shield
Heres the story
Yesterday on my way home from work it was 95*F out.
I wanted to see what my IAT was when i was driving and sitting at these temps with just the rice pipe on.
So i plugged in my scan tool while driving home and took a look....
HOLY CRAP.... 135-145*F when sitting and right after i start to move.
And 115-125*F while moving down the road at 45-55MPH.
So i took some of this fancy bubble wrap that i got from the first NEBF i went to. (Yes im finally using some of it)
and decided to rig up a quick heat shield around my filter.
OMFG what a HUGE!!! difference.
After i did it the temp had dropped to around 88*F out side.
So i went out driving again. While driving down the road it was staying around 92-94*F, Only 4-6*F warming then the temp. Thats very good for what it is
and now when im stopped it got up to 98-100 and when i took off it jumped to 110 at most and then Quickly went right below 100*F again and dropped back down o 92-94*F
So this should hold me over till i get my FWI
Here are some pics of it. No pretty BUT like i said... i Spent 5min on it and about 18" of Duct Tape

I try my best to hoard that stuff when it comes with frozen shipments at work. I never realized it was the same stuff people use on here for heat insulation until recently or i'd have a ton of it by now.
