Did anybody just see this commercial during the 500? 5000, 7500, or 15000 mile formulas? I want to know if they really protect for that long.

I've heard of that stuff. I would like to see others try that stuff before I get my hands on it. Having the same oil for over 10,000 miles just seems risky to me, especially since it takes me almost a year to put 10,000 miles on my car.

I've seen the stuff in the store, and plan on using it with my next oil change, but I fully intend to change it just like I do with regular Mobil 1 -every 3-4k, and most of the time I do it between 3-3.5k.
No reason to hold out unless your really broke -it'* only a 15-20 minute job to change oil and filter.

your car has some sort of sensor in it that "tests the oil"
my 84 Grand prix had this and when i would go over mileage with my oil the check engine light would come on as soon as i would change it the light would go out!
your car will let you know when the oil needs changed

I wouldn't really worried about the oil breaking down. I'd worry more about how dirty the oil is going to be after a higher mileage oil change.

I put some in last week. Did an oil change and the only fully synthetic Mobil 1 Autozone had in 10W30 was some sort of extended mileage stuff. I hadn't heard of it before then and I assumed it was replacing the old stuff.

i just saw one of those commercials tonight. You probably change the engine, not the oil after 15000 miles. At least thats what my friend and I thought. My oil looks gross after 5000, I cant imagine 3X that.

ive actually put 9000 miles on mobil one, and when the oil came out it didnt even look horrible...i didnt do it on purpose, the car was my mothers before i got it as a graduation present, and of course they never wrote anything down, and before i noticied it i was away at college and never did an oil change...thank god i finally got a chance to change the oil recently
