EK98'* throttle plate was quite unique. Not what I'd have done for a flow improvement to say the least.

Where do I begin? I don't have much to go by as far as numbers and stats are concerned. The only thing I could rely on was the old fashion butt dyno. I did noticed a big increase in the low end torque, and I felt the high end, around 4800-5000 to be a bit more also. But mostly in the low end.
Before the mod, I would have a hard time breaking traction. Now, I can break traction WHILE ROLLING around 10-15 MPH. I **** you not!

While I had the LIM off, I took the time to pull the heads off to do some cleaning of the valves and other things. After re-install, I noticed I don't hear valve noise or whatever the hell it was. I ended up removing a **** load of built up carbon on the back side of the valves. I can actually hear my fuel injectors now.

I know what yer thinking now. Oooh, ooooh, I wanna do this now. DON"T! Well, not just yet. Research this mod more. Talk to WillWren or I and I'm sure we would be glad to help as long as you are willing to do it to standard. If you do it your way, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

What'* it cost to do this mod?
New upper and lower intake gaskets.
Dremel supplies
Coolant
Oil change
Might as well pull the heads-head gaskets and head bolts need replacing if you pull them off. (heads are optional)
A spare LIM.(to practice on)
TIME
PATIENCE
And a rock steady hand. One slip with a air tool or Dremel on the LIM, and you can kiss it good bye! Its aluminum!

But why spend all this money on a mod that may gain me a few extra ponies?
Because, I said so. No really, if you haven't changed you upper intake gaskets or lower gaskets yet, and you are still running the GM DEX in it, NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO DO THIS!

Mike and I went through it step-by-step using what I learned on the S1 L67'*. The reason I was interested in doing this was because I witnessed first-hand the horrible outlets on the L36 manifold. Far worse than the S1 L67, which had room for improvement in their own right.

Many hours of phone discusssion between jr's3800 and I over the last year resulted in a real understanding of the important factors in efficient flow for the L36. More often than not, people tend to purchase the easy bolt-on parts, and don't pay any time or attention to the parts in between the bolt-ons. Hence the preamble on my zillamotorsports page.

So the NEBF contingent nailed a LIM and sent it to me. It sits 10 feet from me right now, half finished. About the time I started work, Mike1995 wanted to give it a whirl. Since he has a BONE STOCK car, we (jr's3800 and I) figured it would be a good comparison car. jr's3800 has a few other 'supporting' goodies, so a comparison from bone-stock to his would be nice. Mike'* work on that LIM was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. He agreed to not get greedy on the material removal, and stuck to the theory and plan like glue. This was critical to allow for a direct comparison later to a car with more supporting mods.

From Mike'* description, his car responded (L36) better than Black94SSEi'* S1 L67, even though both cars were bone stock and had nothing done but ported LIM'*. (billboosty copied my LIM porting on black'* car during their last mod-day together about 3 months ago). It APPEARS as if the L36 may benefit from a broader range of gains across the RPM band than the S1 L67, which seemed to gain more top end than anything. I didn't have the luxury of really characterizing my LIM porting, as I made a few other changes at the same time.

That day is coming very soon. I'll get pics up tonight. I'll even get my tripod out and try to show a split-screen view of a good and bad port (before and after in the same frame).

Mike'* results were promising to say the least. Don'* will finish off his trans.

Add Mike and Don'* cars to the zillamotorsports 'victim' list.

You guys need to remember that this has only been done on ONE car on this Forum so far. Working very closely with the people that developed the theory.

Patience is a virtue until we can get the second car up and running.

It'* not worth your time and money for the risk until it'* proven. Spring time is alot more fun for working on it and testing anyway.

I'll get some pics up tonight, but I'm going to STRONGLY discourage anyone else from doing this until it'* proven. Don and I have been working on this for a LONG time.

In the meantime, read this:
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=66207

I fully explain HOW and WHY to do anything I work on AFTER it'* been tested and verified on a test car. ALWAYS. I've been doing this for 5 years here. I've never failed to share my secrets.

But at the same time, countless problems have come up on other cars from people jumping in too soon or with too little patience. This is why I removed my supercharger porting and polishing from Techinfo. When this is proven and characterized on Don'* car to back up the test on Mike'*, all the info will be shared.

Not everyone is going to screw their car up on this, but some will. I gaurantee it. And it won't be because of me this time.

Maybe a stock L36.
I did my LIM in conjunction with home ported heads and a cam in the summer of 04. When I swapped my home ported heads (summer 05) for MMS heads I polished the runners in the LIM.

What parameters and methods were you using to calculate VE?

Cheers,
