your very first mods should be : air filter, new fuel filter, major tune up, and maybe a chip.
you need to make sure everything is there before you mod the crap out of it.
there are many posibilities to do with your car. nitrous, CSC, turbo, ect.
speed is usually determined by 2 factors.
1) how much do you want to spend
2) how much imagination you have
i hope this helped anwser your question a little

http://www.protechtransmissions.com/chips.html might be somewhere to check on that chip. Or hypertech has one right here: http://www.zmotive.com/product_info/...cts_id/119809/ $175 You said your ignition was replaced, with what? If you can afford to go without your car for about a week I'd send the fuel injectors off for a cleaning. The CAI can usually be built from fairly cheap parts if nothing else can be found. Maybe if the intake manifold is easy enough to take off you can have it ported. This is obviously optional but even without the heads ported you'll realize some gain. The last of the fun could be nitrous. Zex is now offering a wet system for $615 but I'm not sure how its setup. Remember thats pretty cheap for a wet system and generally you get what you pay for. BTW Their dry system is the same price. A gentleman on here is despirate to sell his dry system for $300, might be something you want to grab while its there.
chip - $175
CAI - $100 est.
Injector clean - $160
Porting - $250-350
Nitrous - $300-615
Mid range price with buying the cheaper nitrous takes us to $1035 and you'll be putting down respectable power and I'm sure you'll enjoy the difference. If you're not comfortable pulling the intake manifold off you could swap that out for an upgraded ignition system (is it?). MSD seems to be the coil of choice and I like them. Without a control module you'll notice more of a smoother pull than a great increase in power but it isn't uncommon to see a few ponies from the mod. Ignition wires should go with it. This is also the cheaper route at about $110 for the coils and $73 for the universal 8.5mm wires. Let me know what you think

As forthe injectors to be cleaned, how does that work? Ive used a few fuel additives to clean them. Im sure I can take off the throttle body, and the intake manifold but that isnt a huge power gain and I dont think it is worth the extra $. Can anyone gimme some tips on a new CAI system? thanks

Well I can kinda relate the fuel system to a coffee maker. If you have leftover grounds in the filter, and leave them in, how much soap running through it will it take to clean it. It never will! Fuel injectors have a filter built into them and once that gets dirty all it does is clog. If you plan on using nitrous it'll be just a little more security that you won't run into a lean condition.
I checked out that link again, yeah its a 3.1. Sorry, I was high on oxycodone earlier and still kind of am. At least its a hint to call hypertech, jetchip, any other manufacturer and find out who has one. That might just be what it takes. We don't drive common mustangs and camaros, sadly a lot of the time when you want performance you're going to have to make it happen.
