K&N filters vs everything else and better cone filters

Been hearing some pretty bad filtering results about K&Ns...read the link above
Might want to check out these filters, they look tons better, cheaper also.

Are the filters reusable? They look like oil fiters in the pictures it am just trying to imagine how hard it is to clean the inside cone of that fiter and the it will need to be reoiled also. The first article states how he hated the difficulty of cleaning some of the oil filters can you imagine this one. Don't get me wrong they look great I have seen the same design used some were else also. I am just worried about cleaning.

Baaaaaaaaa. Don't believe any of it. A K&N is THE best you can get, but a different intake would work better for you. The stock air box is very restrictive so people usually go with intakes from speedyguy. If you don't upgrade the filter box then go with an accel blue filter from summit or go with the K&N. After putting them on you will notice great increases in low end and high end power and way better throttle response. By great I'm not saying it will give a gillion hp but probably only like 2hp. Napa is a stock replacement filter and was made to filter better but more filtration=worse airflow. The K&N was made to flow faster and not block all the air that is why they say you are supposed to clean them often and they make filtercharger kits.

Actually....the K&N ISN'T cleaned very often. Only every 50-100k. I've heard rumblings about the failures of K&N'* in the past, but in reality, it would take a helluva lab to prove one better than the other. The differences are miniscule. Don't hesitate to buy a competitor'* product if it'* noticeably cheaper, but before you do, read the reviews on that product.
I personally believe nobody in the world would notice the difference if someone substituted an 'imitator' in a car already outfitted with a k&n.

If I get one I will make sure that its cleaned/oiled much more than it supposed to be, because with a lot of the tests that people have ran there is a huge difference in the amount of dirt going through a K&N than even OEM filters. I wish I could just buy a cone type paper or equalivant filter and be able to replace it whenever I want to.
Because I think the issue with the bonnevilles air box is not that you have to get a K&N cone setup to improve the air flow, its that the box itself is so restricting and by replacing it with a more free-flowing system you can achieve noticeable hp gains. So even a paper would bring very noticeable and satisfactory results if coned.
They are constantly downing K&Ns, but then ya get a few that swear by em.

I personally don't give a rats a$$ what their "lab testing" says. I used to work for a short track dirt racer. We tried them all. I can tell you from experience that the K&N is far superior to anything else under extremely dusty and dirty conditions. The proof, you ask. The wear factor in the engine after he began using the K&N was virtually non-existant. This tells me there'* not much dirt getting in there. (no sandpaper effect) Enough proof for me to become a lifetime K&N user.

Yikes! Kuhl, be careful. You like your MAF sensor. MAF sensor GOOD. Oil BAD. Even slightly over-oiling a filter can kill your Maf sensor. We've lost a couple here due to that.
You say it was used for a racing application, vehicles that are disassembled constantly and have constant maintence regardless of the manufacturerers specifications. The thing with K&N'* are that their between re-oiling schedule is off. I am sure you cleaned it after every race, K&N specifies that you re-oil it after every 50k-100k miles. The KN is very porous and without the right amount of oiling huge particles are flying into your engine.[/url]
