No offense Rod, but I don't recall a MAF sensor on this Forum ever being messed up by oil.

if you oil properly it won't be a problem, i just cleaned my maf and it was just dirty but no way was it oily

I've never really thought of filter oil doing any harm at all. I have K&N in all four of my family'* cars, and no car has had sensor failure. I do, though, like the idea of saving $10 by not buying a recharge kit.

I searched that site, but could not find any filters for a Bonneville.

most of us have an aftermarket or custom intake with a cone filter.

Search on 96-99. It'* the same filter. That would be the drop-in replacement filter for 92-99, and is suitable on a stock 92-94/5 stock airbox or 95/6-99 gutted airbox.

This is typically a good first step for performance and efficiency.

If your are using a stock air box you can buy a K & N drop in filter or go to the local parts store and buy a paper filter. A lot of us on this forum modify our cars to make them better than factory stock. In the future if you plan to build a CAI, I put that link so you knew that there are other filters than K & N out there. And the nice thing about the DryFlow is that it filters better than a K & N and you can clean it and reuse it. You do not have to put oil on it. The name of this forum is Performance and Brainstorming, you can make a stock air box flow more but that takes a lot of work and you can keep the stock accordian tube between the throttle body and the air box, but you would have to have a custom pipe made to fit from the throttle body to almost the end of the accordian tube so that you have a smooth lineal flow of air. So that is why I put the link there, but if all you want is a stock air filter just go buy a stock filter that is easy. I put a K & N drop in air filter in 2000 when I bought the car new, it did absolutely nothing for performance or gas mileage. When I built my intake that did improve performance and I got better gas mileage going down the highway. We have put over 150,000 miles on our car and my intake has paid for itself many times over with the gas savings. Hope that clarifies it.
