Which intake suits us better?
#21
I did the samething you did to get it to fit. I dont think my K&N filter is as long as yours though. How did you clamp the intake to the TB? The coupler they supplied me with was to small. It could fit in the TB, but not over it.
Does your setup look something like this? I put the filter as far away from the engine I could get it, but it has plenty of room to bounce around.

Mine isnt half as close. I had trouble with the PCM in the way. My filter is pretty big tho, and there is space between the condenser and the frame for air to get through, and around the headlights. Most of my driving is on the highway so im not worried. I might make a heat shield later but I want to see how this works out.
For the coupler I got a 3" one from Lowes and cut the filter they came with so it could go on the pipe and both can fit inside the 3" one. Where did you get yours, I need one like that. No matter what I did I couldnt get the pipe to fit anywhere close with the PCM there. I thought about putting it on the bottom but it would have been more trouble than it was worth.

Is the black box the PCM? I am still lost on that one, I have no idea what that is. But anyways, I got my coupler from TrueValue. It was like 3 bucks. It is called a pipe to socket connector, or something like that. The pipe was really tricky to move around. I finally angled it so the pipe is pointing down and if it touches anything, it will be touching that black box and not the radiator hose. The heat shield is a good idea, I still need to get one before it gets scorching. I saw some insulation material that was heat resistant up to 1000*F at Home Depot yesterday, I might try to rig something up like that. You got any pics of your setup?

I dont have a digi cam so no go on the pics...I have Twisters intake pipe but mine is cut so the filter is barely touching the PCM box. I know its not very close to the headlight, but I'll probably make a heatshield this summer that will protect the TB and the filter from the engine heat. I might just make a shield to go over the manifolds. I need some ideas. Looking back I probably should have put the PCM box on top of the charcoal canister and then I would have had more room for the pipe, but its too late now.
