Need more front downforce for stability at higher speeds. I've done a couple things that help, but it'* still spooky above 145
youve had ur bonnie to 145??!?

Well beyond 145. WELL beyond.

Back on topic. We're talking about intakes here.

will the cheaper intake listed rub on the air compressor? bonnie94sse has that problem or is that because of his xtreme filter?

All Series 1 will have that problem with nearly any intake. It'* something to live with. Put a rubber cushion in between, or just let it go. Won't hurt anything.

You may want to play around with the compressor mounting, but I personally don't care. No biggie.

His powdercoated pipe isn't powdercoated there, it'* down to bare metal.

My pipe may wokr better on L67'*, since his is slightly more gradual. All things being equal, and no washer bottles in the way, this one goes all the way into the corner.

pretty easy to tell look at the tach its almost pegged out too. i'd tend to believe that the pic was taken at speed instead of sitting still

The 3" pipe will provide more laminar flow by increasing the velocity. You can do the same thing with the 4" that you're running for several reasons. You have no bend in the pipe, so it'* more laminar, you are flowing more with your M90 and pulley, and you have the headers to get it out afterwards.

A 3.5" or 4" pipe will actually perform worse than a 3" on his car, but not yours.
You see what their putting on Civic'* now a days? This puppy is 5 inches wide. How can a 3.5" intake pipe hurt peformance over a 3" one on a NA 3800? I might get the 3.5 inch'er off eBay. Cheaper than RSM or Thrasher.

It'* all about physics. No matter what size you have, 3" or above, the engine is only going to suck in what it needs. When you have a smaller space for the air to travel through, like a 3" pipe, the velocity of the air will be faster as it gets pushed together in a small space. Open up the intake, and that velocity decreases.

That civic intake is a joke. Love the 90° bend!

Sol is right. In addition to the velocity is the LAMINAR quality of the air. Larger pipe gives less chance to reduce turbulence. Force it in the right direction to be of greater benefit.

This has been proven time and time again for the 3800. Both on the street, and on the dyno (as well as flowbench).
