Default F-Body Hooker Aero Muffler - I'm a guinea pig....

My car has never once even seen snow or salt on the roads before...therefore it has 0 rust on it, but the muffler appears to be rusted thru causing some exhaust leaks....You may remember a couple months ago I had some huge cracks in my exhaust manifolds.....well after hearing rrounds' setup at WCBF which consisted of a 3" setup to 2 hooker aero'*, it sounded pretty good....not that raspy, however on the pre-2000 bonnevilles, they only used one muffler. Luckily Hooker sells one for the 93-99 Camaro/Firebirds, its 20" long, 10" wide, a few inches shorter than the stock SSEi muffler. Its 2.5" in, and 2.25" dual out.

Well the install will be tomorrow, estimated cost of $30-40 at "Bill'* Mufflers". These are the same guys who welded up my exhaust manifolds prior to porting...great business to work with.

I finally ordered a battery for my camcorder so I should be able to post some video clips in pretty good sound quality. I can also try recording with the laptop or a headset once I get everything installed.

I doubt those cracks are causing KR, but then again who knows. we shall find out. Currently in WOT with Performance shift I still hit 20* of KR on a cold day ....we'll see if this helps that at all.

It will be great to hear that on a pre-2000 Bonne. Glad you are trying it out, as I have wondered (after hearing Rod'* 2000) what one would sound like as well.

True True. Hopefully a resonator will not be necessary.

For a "before" perspective, here is a thread with some sound clips.

Way to be the lab rat, Hans! I hope it works out for you.

And I guarantee that cracks in your muffler are not causing 20 degrees of KR. You'll be lucky if the new muffy kills any of it. With that much KR, something totally different is happening, either with false knock or the engine making noise.

NOT mad at all

I am trying things "new and exciting"....I am just slow at getting there

I get quite a bit of enjoyment out of my car. Keeping disguised in "grandpa" mode, is part of my fun. If all goes well, some improved exhaust work will be done in the next couple of months, but the stock muffy will remain

I will admit that after hearing the Hooker'* on Cindy'* Bonne, that I went and "investigated" what was available for the single Aerochamber. Now, Han'* is going to take care of the trial and I am hoping for a "body part awakening" result.
