The thermostats are easy guys.
I've er uh.. got experience here.
One is a standard t stat and the other is the fail safe t stat.
Both look like stants.

The INTENSE Tstat is not a Stant. It'* made by a different company. I don't recall, but it'* a 4-letter brand name stamped on the side.
It'* the diameter for the amount of flow that'* the primary difference. Nearly 10% larger when open.

It the same one that ZZPerformance sells. I use to run the same t-stat with a only 2 holes in it but now I upgraded! No problem keeping it right at 160 now.

I'm waiting for the next 90-100° day to see if the Estat will be necessary. I'll do it anyway (this weekend), but it will be switchable for only when I need it.

3-bar structure is the INTENSE. It'* hard to tell from my pic the opening diameter difference, but this one is easier:
Rough measurements on my screen show the larger thermostat to be a 16.7 percent increase in diameter. That'* better than a 30% increase in area (flow) assuming both thermostats open the same distance.
The car was very confused this morning. Scans were with 92 pump gas, no water injection, 60° ambient temps. First couple runs I got 10-15° of KR at mid-throttle, and 0° of KR at WOT. Very odd. Next two runs started changing to 7° of KR at mid, 10° of KR at WOT, and the last run was 5° at mid (about 7psi) and 11° at WOT. I don't think these numbers really mean anything at this point. My PCM needs some adjustment time.
Thermostat change gave me consistent 175° temps after warmup in 60° ambient air temps on the way to work. It should stay similar, maybe 185° in 100° ambient.

Not any more. It'* on driverjohn'* car.
I'm pretty adept at picking up used M62'* off eBay for $100. There'* a trick to it, and I can port, polish, and rebuild in about a week'* time. I do have an OEM Gen3 sitting on the other car, too.

Your PCM is VERY confused, if there was a problem it would pull the same KR at the same Throttle postion...heheheh she needs a few more runs lol
