Ya, mid 12'* are gonna cost ya about 5 grand with that heavy weight. Stay with the camaro with dragging and use the Bonne to surprise stock 15 sec cars on the road.

$1000 will net you a FWI, rockers, springs, and stronger cylinder heads (non-ported) as well as a high-flow cat and a PCM burn or two. That should be enough to cover fluids and gaskets as well.

You'll need twice that again to start saving up for your trans.

Before or after the trans work, you might just sneak into the 14'*. The next two seconds on the ET goal will cost you at least 3 times that initial investment. I think you haven't come to grips with the fact that you're starting with a non-supercharged FWD V6.

i have a grand to work with now, and constant income but dont want to go more than 2 grand after doing research on these cars.

You understand you'll be lucky to see 14'* on that budget?

Start with a full tuneup, a high-flow cat, and a FWI. Once things are purring along great, start investing in the valvetrain.
