It seems like its very possible for my application, and assuming I get a good quality gaterback(which hopefully I could find a standard sized one that fits) there should be no real slip issues.
Now the question arises how to hook it up. I've seen most places sell some type of plug and play wireing harness to go with the pump, so I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with those(quality, ease of hookup, etc.).

You just have to find a pink ignition wire for the relay so the pump will turn on when you put the car in accessory. I found mine going to the larger fuses in the engine. And then you just have to hook up 12v power and a ground. I bought it from www.zzperformance.com and used thier harness.
Are you sure none of your motor mounts are in the way? I doubt this has ever been done to any pre series 2 engine.
