ok, first of all, the thrust surface on the block and the main bearing cap is just to hold the bearing in place. if it got damaged, the block is totally shot.the thrust surface itself is ocated on the main bearing. and the thrust plate for the crank is located on the crank itself.. in my own honest opinion, i would get my car the h*ll of of there. also it sounds like the guy at the other machine shop was telling you exactly what i told you about the bearing caps .
this is for everyone out there. unless you know what kind of work a guy can and cant do, ALWAYS take your motor to a reputable machine shop or engine builder to have it done. ask for references from him, and do your homework.
the guy that is machining my heads and cutting the valve seats and all is a latemodel stockcar driver that builds his own motors plus most of the late model motors that he races against. this shop is very very good. when it comes to something like this, trust is a big issue. machine work, i take to him, motor building, i do myself.
for some reason , trust my work
also, when it comes to performance, go to someone that builds performance engines. usually a race shop.

I'd love to get my engine out of there but as you read its somewhat a catch 22. If I try to take it out its going to be a HUGE thing trying to keep him from getting my $1000. Also since he'* doing a 3yr 36,000 warranty on it I don't see him fuxing it up like that. I honestly don't think he'* done anything but I can't prove it. I did some homework on this guy before hand. I talked to a few of his customers and they were happy with the work. One guy had one of those old trucks with a race motor in it and he told me he'* been going there for years with all his needs. Plus there were plenty of high priced cars in his shop being worked on. It looks like a pretty good shop too, basically all signs pointed to a decent shop. Obviously that was a little off but like I said, I just think he was buying time till he could get to it because he is backed up like crazy. If he told me after 2 weeks that he haden't touched it I would obviously have taken it elsewhere. I think he knows enough about engines to know what will and won't destroy and engine, if he knows that doing that crap to the main caps would destroy the engine he wouldn't warranty it for that long, if at all. Everything seems to point to lies but no damage done. But now that I'm questioning his work and demanding the work be done soon the car has moved and things seem to be happening a little faster now. What do you think?

you bring the tow hitch and ill bring the tissues for you. when we do race, mine will be hauled there. we just got a 2004 international rollback at work. may have to kiss butt, bull ill be hauled there and also hauled home, but as a choice, not requiring to be

Hmmm, trying to think about this.
Jeffrey: How long would it take for his motor to go? More than the 3 year, 30,000 mile warranty? If it would go before then, you would have him to work on it. Make sure you have a copy of the warranty and read it end to end to make sure that its all good and legit.

i meant an estimate, silly. I know its impossible to be able to know that, I was just wondering if you had a good educated guess or not.
