Tires are probably a big thing too. I could burn 'em from 0-about 25 on my used Goodyear Reatta 2'*, now with new BFG it'* not quite so easy..

do you have the car in tune atleast? like NGK spark plugs..good wires...synthetic motor oil (i recommend quaker state synthetic Q) die electric grease helps on all the plugs and coil plugs in cold/wet weather, have you checked your transmission fluid level lately? do you have a K&N or Fram Air Hog air filter? throttle body and maf sensor cleaning could help. as always...if your cat is old and plugged up you will lose power there so check that out too. who knows maybe your tps sensor has wrong voltages...can't hurt to check it you havn't. Low tire pressure will make it harder to do a burn out also. I can say myself with my lesabre before i gave it a tune up and such it wasn't as good. I would say if you need that stuff done, do it and you may just find some of that lost power again. and as always...if your cat is old and plugged up you will lose power there so check that out too

How about we cover the tuneup in the mechanical sections instead of performance?

Tuning up your car won't change your stall rpm'* of the converter or your gear ratio. You should do a tune-up if it needs one, but it'* not going to make the car do what you want it to with regards to your burnouts.

Most people here with the L36 and 2.84 ratio can barely squeak the tires. However... they see great mileage on the highway.

As mentioned...there would be a bunch of work needed to really smoke them well. Work takes money.

I can squeak them on my LeSabre w/o too much effort, but that'* all it is - a squeak. To get them really moving, you'd either have the trans/pcm noted above, or...

my personal favorite, and cheapest method...

drive on rainy days.

Works like a charm.

One-wheel-wonders will destroy your transmission. Please don't do that.

i had 2.84s in my Buick, it would never even chirp, talk about GREAT mileage, and the tires lasted forever on it too...it has its Pros...
