WHY is this 2002 Impala I'm driving with the 3800 Series II SO MUCH SLOWER than my 1995 Bonneville!? Same motor. You would think the Impala is heavier. But I noticed that when I was driving too, cars my car can keep up with DUST this Impala. And stock time is almost 2 seconds slower!!! Something is very STRANGE.

There is 2 available final drive ratios on the trans! Perhaps your Bonneville has one & the Impalla has the other? Pontiacs are built for speed, where as Chevs are built for luxury. The same applies to Buicks which are built with a softer suspension than any other GM product! Now before you all try to linch me...Some Chevs ARE built for speed (IE: Corvette, Camaro)!

Take a look at all the stats including the weight. I would also take into consideration tearing the whole thing apart and then you would know for sure what’* up. Could be alot of power robbing units in a line including the computer. Fuel economy is a big deal nowadays. I would say the exhaust and the intake, combined with the ol mighty computer are the reasons. Think of it my chip released 20-25 hp. plus around another 10-15 with the exhaust. My personal favorite way to find out is to get the #rs on all areas of the engine that will give you a better picture. I bet you will find the tranny may be different or the computer controlling it may hold it back, also if it’* a rental it may be deprogrammed even more. Ask the rental guys.

Speedyguy, what chip did you put in you car? And where in California are you, perhaps one day we can meet up and compare cars and knowledge. Plus, no chip has ever been proven to give any power. What a chip really does is tune the car to use all the modification together just like the stock chip makes all the factory components work together smoothly and effeciently.

You’re right on with the chip info. The guy I bought it from told me that it made a difference. I think it’* the rev limiter that is the real issue. I live in Fresno Kali, but I play in Riverside sometimes when visiting my father in-law. You live close to riverside don’t you? Send me a private message if you want to hook up or talk business. I would like to put our ideas together to make some of these modification ideas happen faster. I have already talked with DeathRat and like I said this is all about getting the Bonneville on the map and our rides tricked out.
