Spoke with my father regarding this. According to him a better thing to use is Xylene(sp). He said he has a magazine somewhere that has all of the proportions to mix etc. It also mentions acetone. I personally don't like the sound of it myself, but it seems to have been a tried and true method... At least in Go-Kart racing....

The dates he posts suggest they are still in test mode and the acctone does'nt add octane but rather loosens the surface tension allowing the fuell to burn more complete.

Have to watch this one for a while before I try

I found the octane thing on a seperate site, it does effect the octane rating of the gas.

Acetone eats some types of rubber and plastic. I'd wait for someone else to test it. I tested Toluene extensively, and a few others have used it since. I'd stick to what'* proven for the time being.

Yes, Acetone does deteriorate rubber, however that is in pure form. You have 5oz in an 18 gallon tank.. that isn't anything in percent form. It sounds safe. The only thing that worries me, is it says it breaks fuel up so it burns easier, isn't that what lower octane fuel attributes? 87 burns faster than 93, so wouldn't that negate any effects of higher octane fuel?

Burning faster vs easier/cleaner is different!

It doesn't burn faster as much as takes less energy to combust. But you have a good point.
