We'll find out soon. I was lucky to find a place who had a B23 (Allante) core to build. It is the "older" 80E converter that uses the conventional clutch. It will work just fine. Nothing in the transmission is different, just the was the converter locks up.

I switched to the '89 Escort heater core. It'* aluminum instead of brass. And I am going back to the liquid-air for both the turbo and the */c. I am also going back to my original idea of running both i/c as auxilliary evaporators in the a/c system. Yes, R134a-to-air intercoolers. I'll have a Hobbs switch over-ride the pcm and engage the compressor at about 4psi. Or just add a toggle switch to turn it on and let it get good and cold before I run it hard.

The wood plates are hogged-out, just need to plane them down to clear the hood at minimum clearance of about .5".

Thanks for the props.

I just bought a REAL T76 ball-bearing turbo on ebay. It is at peak efficiency flowing 45# of air at 8psi. That'll feed the blower enough air for a combined 22-25psi at only 8psi turbo.

just wanted to let you know...Al and I are picking up an 80e from an 01 aurora this weekend

i am hopeing for 3.48'* but maybe it will have the 3.71 gears

i have been looking at it carefully and i think that a 3.71 rear and 3.48 front would work the best since the rear is bottom end/launching while the front is for DD and topend of the track...

we will be using this as an excuse to run motorplates and get rid of the upper W body Tq links...hell at least it means the cg is lower...a little lol

looks like we will be getting it for ~ 151$ with converter, but we may grab the inner tulips and mounts if they look useable to us

what do you think about the later internal range switches? is there a way to convert it to internal to remove the possibility of heat damage of the external setup (i can make some thermal shields but i figured i'd ask

from one overkill guy to another thanks! your project cemented what we want for the 442...4 wheel burnouts with no loss of reliability

If you want 4-wheel brunouts, you are going to need two of my Engineered Performance Limited Slip differentials! I make the EP-LSD for both the -60 and the -80.
