300th Post/ 103 Octane VP gas
I just stopped in at the local VP gas distibutor and picked up 5 gallons of 103 octane unleaded. I don't know how much it will help with a weak fuel pump, but I am going to give it a try. I wanted to get 3 gallons of 110, but 103 is all they had on hand and the minimum I could buy was 5 gallons for a whopping $5.84 a gallon (I thought $1.79 was expensive for 93 octane).
Has anyone ever tried this stuff? It is supposed to be from VP'* top line. It really stinks is all I can tell so far (I have it in a 5 gallon jug waiting for me to put it in when I leave for the track -55 miles).
If my car was running like a top how much would I likely gain over the pump 93 octane? 1-2 tenths of a second and 1 mph?
Also, I picked up to 12 oz bottles of octane boost. Should I add those into it at the same time or just wait until I fill up again?
I also am putting the GM performance exhaust on and am hoping for better times than my last trip, but expect about the same.
I am going to the track better prepared this time, but then the fuel pump will be my main problem for low e.t.'* and high MPH trap speeds.
P.*. I'll get some pics taken of my time slips for the proof of my times (hoping for better than last time out -10.14 @ 73, but I don't expect to get better than that due to the weak fuel pump even though the car will be stripped down and have more performance mods)
Thanks in advance,
Stylez

You're going to grove with that bad fuel pump? Should be interesting.I'd say drop the gas in before you get there so the PCM has time to adjust itlsef. Then drop in the booster when you get there for an added kick in the pants.
