Think about the prestone LL, it preserves the original color look.

On the valve covers.. you'll need to move some brackets etc to get them off.

Yeah, even the LIM gaskets on my 38k engine were beginning to show signs of failure around the ports. Glad I put the ported LIM on, using the new GM metal LIM gaskets.... probably saved me a pain later on.
Matt, if you don't mind spending another $50 US I am sure you can find a 99+ L67 TB on www.car-part.com ..... it definitely is better than a lightly ported 96-98 TB. Just make sure the MAF comes with it... all the other sensors are the same.

It'll be easier with the top end off... you still need to loosen the brackets.

BTW.. it'* not good to stretch your wires for the rear plugs like that.

Bill, lol, I know those basic things pretty good lol, plug wires were not left stretched out over night, last thing i need is a wire divorcing a boot lol

Matt...you are a good friend and therefore I'll say it. If you knew these things...you wouldn't stretch them at all. Stretching or pulling a wire...even for a millisecond could be detrimental. Although..you have lifetimes...so it'* all good.

Coolant goes in the oil fill right?

Valve covers off tonight.
Removed the Evap crap from the back, and that mount.
Not a bad night of removing..poured a litre of oil over the balance shaft, and lifter galleries, incase there is more free standing coolant in there, the oil was drained last night, so there should be no coolant contacting any bearings at all.

Head covers will be ran through the vulcan tomorrow at work lol



For all yous who have removed many sets of exhaust manifolds from these cars, at this point...heres what I see.
(all the bolts turn and will remove easily, tried tonight just to make sure i didnt need pb)
I can remove the front mani, with the cross over unbolted, then un bolt the rear mani and remove it with the crossover still attached..i did it in my 93 I do belive, maybe im full of ****, but i dont really remember for sure lol..

a few things Matt

take the wireharness and hang it up on the hood, this will cause you to move the harness less....and its also its out of the way

becaureful with the valve covers when cleaning them, as they are only composite, and i have no idea of what your cleaning machine is capable of...LOL

and yes manifold bolts are relatively easy to remove because of the constant expansion and the contracton of the EM'*...therefore the bolts look rusty but they come off easy....often the crossover and the DP bolts are the one that fight you the most

The Vulcan at work is decently high pressure with hot water (no hotter than tap water) and a Caustic type degreaser...
I could use the varsol tank?

ya you should be fine with the Vulcan...( i was unaware of the machine) now with a desription, go ahead on the Valve covers and make them shine
