I orderd that gasket set awhile back, she will be good for a few years for sure, the stock one made it almost 10 years and 140,000 kms lol

For the cost... I think you'd be a fool not to put on the aluminum frame gaskets.

Take a look at CorvetteCrazy'* post about his thanksgiving ritual of changing gaskets. 1 year and they look horrible.

I'm not a fool, these are the same brand of gasket I ran in my 93.
They will be just fine.

I agree with Matt. If he dumps the DEX, the older style OEM gaskets should be fine. Every Series 1 WITHOUT DEX that I've seen open after over 100k miles have been BEAUTIFUL.

My instinct (not confirmed yet until I see more results from DEX cars) is that aluminum framed LIM gaskets are the ONLY choice for a car running DEX. If you replace the DEX, you can use either. They are equal performers at that point IMO.

Exactly, that gasket might of failed after one year due to the gasket itself, manufacturing errors happen all the time, we just hope it doesnt happen to us.
Until i see consistant gasket failures due to the plastic itself, im not sold yet.

Don't forget the other advantage of aluminum gaskets is heat transfer.

Also, the thermal expansion coefficient of aluminum is much greater than plastic and will tend to develop a tighter seal as the engine heats up.

It is easier to file too. I had to port the upper part of each gasket because there was a slight flow turbulence generator along the top where they do not match the head ports.

Matt, make sure you check the LIM port to head port for alignment. Place the LIM with the gaskets in place loosely and with a light and mirrors you will be able to look inside the LIM to view each port for a match, then you can remove and using the gasket against each of the LIM and heads, carefully grind to remove any sharp edges.

I am going to get a nice strong rag, wet with superclean, and clean the gasket surfaces on the heads, then do some comparing and measuring. I dont plan on hacking my LIM up to much, maybe lightly just for kicks. Im thinking some polishing in the LIM itself might be an okay idea, i dont see it doing much at all, but might as well try it.

Okay, i worked on the inlet today..few hours worth
I can say, mine did not have much of a lip at all around the inlet like most others do, however, i did polish it all, and I can say, its SMOOTH as glass as far back as I can reach.
