HELP ... 86 delta88 Drivers door FUBAR
okay.. was tracking down a couple electrical problems (more on that in a sec) anways... after closing the door to see if I had fixed the problem I was working on, I went to open it and VOILA the inside and outside button/handle DON"T OPEN THE DOOR... the locks still work great, I am thinking the latch itself has come disconnected or simple locked up? the outside button has no resistance what so ever.. all the "sprinyness" is gone. now I'm pretty sure I can fix it if I can get at the inside of the door ...
heres the problem... how do I get the interior panel off with the door closed ???? I've for the p/window switchs out, and the bezel around the handle, p/lock switchs, and the inside pull handle .... what'* holding the arm rest??? I can't find any bolts holding the armrest through the door panel to the door itself???
HELPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!
anyways.. the other small problem I'm having is... the interior lights won't go out at the moment I just have the fuse pulled... but ofcourse the interior lights are linked with the power locks... ( :X again ) ... even after I turn off the car, take out the key shut all the doors (this is when the drivers door decided not to open again) the interior lights stay on... I'm sure all the door pin switchs work (the door reminder doesn't holler at me when the car is on) any ideas on what'* not working? maybeing interior light switch on the dash?...
and last of all ... my cruise/washer/intermitant wipers don't work... but everything else on the stalk works... I was told earlier GM'* have kinda flimsy connections in the stalk controls so.... just need a new stalk?... or could it be in the steering column?

Leave the armrest alone its attached to the board. You need to stick a thin screw driver in one end of the rectangle shaped plastic plug that covers the large screws on the door pull strap. Those little plastic plugs will pop right out of there. I going from old memory here. But I think thats it. Maybe the little plastic piece up by the mirror. Then just pop the push pins out of the door, carefully so you dont pull them out of the panel board. I think you have to lift panel up some to get the top out. The top sets down in. There might be a third large screw there somewhere but I cant remember. I may be getting confused between other cars.
Your problems could be a few things but I would bet the whole latch/lock mechanism is just dirty and rusty. Lots of oil and working all thoses rods by hand in there should free it up. Oils good for bottom door seam too.

okay.. thanks... I didn't wanna go reefing on the panel with some screws still holding it in... like I said I got the strap off, and the bezel around the interior opening handle .. I'll see if I can pry the little plastic peice at the mirror out and wriggle the panel out of the door jams.. fun fun fun

well... there was 3 large screws holding the panel on through the arm rest... no I didn't destroy the panel to find that out there were 2 under the power window switchs, and 1 behind the reflector in the back of the armrest.. there was 1 small screw holdling the lil sail panel for the mirror.. and 1 lil screw under that lil sail panel for the door panel.. WEEEEE
ANYWAYS... it;* the lock mechanism.... its not completely unlocking but only intermitantly ... when the key doesn't work and I go in through the passenger side and jiggle the lock up and down from the inside manual latch a few times it works again.... anyone know if this is the same as the typical bonnevile problem???
