engine removal
toady iam hopefully going to get the engineout of my 96olds LSS,now my question is in the write up on engine removal it says you need to support the trans. i am pulling it from the top and leaing the trans in place, i am using a chain lift to pull the engine so once its out i need to back up the car so i can lower the engine, so how do i support it ? do i really need to ?
thanks in advance

I would say as long as the axles and rear mount are still in place you should be okay...I would still put a chain or strap from the bell housing up to the body somewheres...

the LSS being a 96 is an H body between 96-99, which is good.
Those years have a dogbone holding the trans up on the passenger side and two mounts front and rear on the driver side. You have no need to support the trans from anyplace in your year.
Beauty of those is that when you pull then engine the trans sits there perfectly level and able to have the car moved around w/o any worries or issues.

Just for the heck of it and we can't post it too much.. Here'* the backwards bolt hole. Look for the silver dot, that'* the bolt hole.
Here'* a different shot..drive train out of car.
And then here'* a shot at the diff to engine bracket
