Default Confused on coolant temperature sending unit/sensor,

i have a 1989 cutlas ciera 3.3L
i have found the two wire sending unit, which controls the cooling fan but not the light in the dash.
i need to know where the sensor is so i can replace it with a gauge.
i was told the sensor that goes to the light in the dash has one wire but there is no other senor that has one wire except the knock sensor.
i have looked all over the engine/head/intake. where is it hiding?

Actually, there are two types listed for your car ... a single connector, and a double connector. There are also different versions for an idiot light, and for a gage. If you are going to install a gage you will need the correct sensor.

Look up near the thermostat housing, or under the exhaust manifold. I am not exactly sure where yours is, but those are the usual spots.
