2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue Key Won't Turn
Same issue as another thread regarding an Oldsmobile Intrigue key not turning. My 2000 Intrigue was parked as usual. Returned to the car an hr or so later, stick the key in, ding ding ding sound........"try" to turn key and can't turn. Key won't turn, steering wheel isn't lock, gear is fully in park. First time this ever happen.
The ignition is the dash not the steering wheel if that helps to know.
-WD40 didn't work
-Turning the wheel while turning the key didn't work (wheel not lock)
-tapping on the key while in ignition didn't work
-jiggle/ shake / pushing key in&out didn't work
-youtube didn't work
none of it worked!
Does that mean I need to buy a ignition lock cylinder? How do I know it'* not the switch vs. the lock?

Yes and yes - the original key (has a chip) and two other keys that were cut back in Dec when we were locked out of the car. The two other keys doesn't have a chip in them. Tried all the keys.

Could be broken pin or bad tumbler.
Auto locksmiths often have on road services for nominal fee, and can repair on site.
Otherwise you can take it apart, bring it in, and have it serviced.

Well, if this is PassKey I or II, and it starts the car without a chip in the key, then the lock cylinder wiring harness in the column has been bypassed by a resistor....that'* the only way key without a chip can start the car.....this is a cheap way to fix a broken wire to the lock cylinder....
Usually when you have a resistor chip in the ignition key, you have a blank key for the door locks...

Ok, thinking about this more...reread your original post.....the lock cylinder is in the dash, not the column.....
Let'* clear something up......you say one key has a chip in it....are we talking about a visible black resistor chip in the shaft of the key(PK I or II), or are we talking about a transponder in the head of the key(PK III)....
Or are we talking about blank keys? Then we are talking PassLock....

To make sure I'm understanding correctly, you are saying my issue may be a broken wire in the lock cylinder?
The two keys that doesn't have a chip were made when a locksmith came out because we "thought" we lost the keys. He cut us two keys, both actually start the car and open the doors to the car. Those keys were cut back in Dec 2015. We never had an issue until now with the keys not turning in the ignition.
Only other thing that was recently installed was a radio. I'm not sure if wiring for the radio is anywhere near the ignition cylinder wiring.......other than that the keys just wont turn.
