Never estimate mileage by a fuel gauge......fill the tank....reset the trip odometer....drive about 200 miles......refill tank....divide miles on trip odometer by amount of gallons on fill up......is this all local driving or highway driving? Big difference....also the way you drive, too.....

****Update*****
First tank since repairs. Filled up average my fuel was getting 23.8mpg. Pretty happy with that considering i was getting like 14, 2 weeks ago.
-fuel filter
-fuel pressure regulater
-no more k&n
-cleaned maf it was filthy
-spark plugs
All i have left is to dump a can of sea foam in the fuel.
Also the 23.8 avg mpg was a tank that i know had atleast an hour and a half or more total idling time.

thats why k&n'* get a bad rep, but its the people putting too much oil on it. if you get some aerosol spray and just put a light mist on it, it wont mess with the maf and it gets slightly better mileage

Im not bashing k&n air filters at all i had one in my 98 transam ls1 with a lid. I just did away with it because it was way overoiled...and im not really worried about horsepower in my alero a wix is just fine. Dont want the maintenance just want one i can pitch and replace from now on. No buying oils.

Never have had any luck with Bosch plugs in GM 6'*. The last set I ever used made an "OK running" 4.3L instantly hard to start and run like crap.

they have to be platinum, i used bosch platinum sometimes if they are on sale and seems on par with autolite platinum etc the delco platinums last a little longer though

I tried the Bosch Platinum 4'* once. They didn't really do anything. Went back to the ACDelco'* and they ran much better.

I have the same motor in my Alero and gas mileage varies. In the winter months, with lots of idling going on, I only get around 19-21 mpg. Idling seems to suck lots of fuel. Summer I get high 20s. All these miles are a mix of hwy and city (lot of short trips around 10-20 minutes). I once got 33 on the highway on a long distance trip. Couldn't believe my eyes! The wind must've been in my favor lol

i always got over 30 on my commute which is mostly 55-65, last couple miles is stop and go. if you do alot of that though they dont like it. its a v-6 with highway gears, not really designed for city
