k&n hurting your maf is another common misconception. it got me 1 to 2 mpg on my 3400 monte. you just cant go crazy with the oil. my yukon came with one when i bought it and i found the maf reading low, all i had to do is clean it with maf cleaner and service the air filter. now it reads the same as others with new ones mine has 170k. i would suggest cleaning your maf if the fpr doesnt fix it

I disagree, the k&n filter will cause maf readings to change higher than factory specs. Example a stock Duramax running a k&n filter instead of a stock gm filter will cause higher maf readings than gm specs. And majority of the time will cause a sea light to come on,maf sensor performance dtc. Just sayin. I've also seen too many sensor flake due to the oil used.

im just talking drop in filters those ones that replace the tube are a waste of money. the drop ins i put in every car and truck i have had and if you dont go crazy with the oil its fine, i have put 300k on some of my drivers and the only time i replaced a maf was in my firebird before i found out you cant get them wet, i ran tubes out of the box to go were there was more cold air and the first time it rained it went out. which is were people get in trouble . and they only read the air going by them doesnt matter how much, if its more it reads more, thats its job.

New fpr in and fuel filter started it up still was surging at low rpms. I drove it for about 15 minutes, 5 minutes into drive it started driving great no problems... Surge seemed to leave. Dont really understand it. Now just waiting to see fuel mileage on the next tank.

Update for the day ive went 70 miles on a quarter of a tank. Mostly highway so im still thinking its pretty low fuel mileage. Stumble is still in the throttle mostly from cold start to warm up as soon as engines warm it comes out of it. It does start better though. Cleaning maf do me any good. I know someone suggested it.

thats what i would do, who ever had it before you may have put too much oil on it. get maf cleaner, and the wire is likely black you want to spray it till its copper, best to do out of the car, dont touch the wire with anything

Did you check for a vacuum leak and did you happen to check your fuel pressure? Cleaning the maf would be good also as J.W. mentioned.
