Yet they don't share the OTHER side of the story going on behind the scenes, as we showed in this particular case.

cvc got trapped in a couple lies after pushing WAY too far. This is a little snapshot of what the Staff and Gearheads deal with quietly behind the scenes on a daily basis.

The point of this becoming public is to give the rest of you some insight, and to develop a little bit of trust and reassurance that things are always above-board and kosher here.

Strange, I don't find it funny at all that he was banned, as a matter of fact its kinda sad. I also don't like seeing people called names especially when they are banned from the site . CVC may have been overpersistent but thats not a crime. If he bugged you just ignore the post.Try to keep in mind this is the Holiday Season and we all are supposed to turn the other cheek. I have gone and re-read all of CVC'* past posts and I don't feel he needs to be banned but I guess it'* not my choice. That is something that happens in North Korea or third world countries, when the Upper Echelon doesn't like the way you act,they shut you up. I for one would like to see it handled different but I just sit on the sidelines anyway, just my .02

But, I understand where you're coming from Boxer, but banning someone for not following the rules doesn't make our Admins and Moderators third world dictators. Rules need to be obeyed, there'* a fine line to be followed between keeping order and abusing power and I think the point of this thread being allowed to continue is to show that our Mods and Admins do just that. And I for one apreaciated their hard work and dedication, even though I can be a disrubtance myself from time to time

What you don't know is what has been transpiring behind the scenes for far too long. Far longer than you've been a member here. Members are here by invitation. At a certain point, you have to determine that the amount of aggravation the member is causing is not worth the fallout and consequences for the rest of the Forum.

In this particular case, I didn't act until he'd already pushed our Gearheads MUCH too far. Basic expetations are true here as they are in life. You are expected to conduct yourself with at least a bare minimum of discipline and common sense. If you can't do that, you won't be babysat. I'm not paid to be a babysitter, and neither is any other member of the Staff here.

You have NOT read all of CVC'* past posts, because some of them have been moved (the WORST ones) to the Gearheads section of the Forum, which you don't have access to. Nor are you privy to the multitude of Private Messages that transpired during this issue.

Correct. Because he didn't get instant answers to his questions, he decided to bug me constantly (and others) via PM, regardless of being asked NOT to. Over and over and over again.

We were dealing with a grown-up 5 year old that wouldn't listen. I don't have the time to deal with 5 year olds. There'* more to a Forum of 7000 members than one annoying issue.

Well call me ignorant, but I don't get it and I feel bad it was handled this way. Hey, I have been watching the site for years and have read his and many others posts and I don't feel he was a threat at all and I don't feel he should be banned. It doesn't happen in the USA like the third world Countries either, believe me, I have spent the better part of my life viewing things in other so called Countries that none of us should ever see.We Americans have rights that NO other Country has. I think he should be given a second chance. I have seen him try to help others along the way also ,he isn't all bad.

If you can't get the fact that this was way overdue from the postings of the Gearheads in this topic, there'* not much more I can do to convince you.

Are you a Company Commander? Do you dole out discipline to your enlisted troops when necessary? After ample warnings? You aren't privy to the 'ample warnings' cvc was the recipient of.

Think of the Moderators and Gearheads as the NCO'* here. I'm you. Company Commander. When the NCO'* come to me with a problem, I evaluate the evidence, and privately deal with the problem troops. When they don't respond to that private attention in a positive member, I deal with it within my powers here.

Think of it as you transferring a PFC to another unit because he can't seem to get it through his head that he actually needs to listen to the NCO'* placed above him in the chain of command.
