I'm getting about $5300 back (I always put all in, like a savings plan for me).
That'* not a savings plan, that'* an interest free loan that you're giving the government You're not saving any money and it'* not "extra" money. You're basically giving your hard-earned money to the government and telling them, here do with it what ever you want and then give it back to me a year later. Oh, and by the way you don't have to pay me any interest on it either.

If you want to do that, I'll PM you my address and you can send me that $425 a month and I can make some money off of that and then send it back to you next year

I know it'* not the best way of saving money, and I know about the intrest free and stuff, but the way I manage money right now it just works best. I am working my way out of it, but for now it'* my annual paydown / toys money. Only in the last few years have I received that much back. I bought a house a few years ago and that kicked a lot of refund back when I did. Either way, new toys on the way.

In the case of the IRS- it is better to receive than to give
